It’s time to bring everything together with a brief review of the techniques we covered.
Here’s a quick summary:
Speaking: Experiment with the words you use
Listening: Notice your internal conversations
Body: Breathe, shift your body to a relaxed position
Moods: Shift to the most resourceful mood you can in the moment
We’ve worked through the 4 domains separately, but it’s important to remember that they don’t work in isolation. They are intertwined and impact each other constantly.
This means that making a change in one area will automatically impact another area. You may not know exactly how until you try it, but there will be a knock-on effect. It also means that you don’t need to work on all areas, you can select the one that looks easiest to you.
Any change takes effort and this is best done in small steps. Taking a few solid small steps is more effective than taking random or shaky big steps. It will get you further ahead in less time.
What’s next
Select 1 area to focus on
Select 1 thing you will try to do differently in this area over the next week.
Write this down or capture it and put it somewhere that will remind you to make
Practice, practice, practice
Now that you’ve got techniques to try you need to practice. There is no value in just reading about communicating well. It has to be applied.
